Dark crimson ruby color with a slight purple hue introduces developing aromas of blueberry jam, tart raspberry, burnt caramel and vanilla. This medium-bodied red wine expresses avors of black plum, unsweetened cocoa, and cassis on the front of the palate, and is complemented by chewy tannins and juicy cherry on the nish. This would be a perfect wine for smoked meats, salty cheeses and tiramisu.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a very pretty appellation-level wine from Laird. Dark, powerful and enveloping, the 2016 packs a serious punch. Black cherry, sage, leather, menthol, scorched earth and licorice infuse this inky, expressive Cabernet. Today, the 2016 is a touch brooding. I would give it another year or two to soften a bit.
