Trinitas Meritage 2012
The nose starts with surprising hints of BBQ notes like mesquite and a pinch of pepper. This evolves into beautiful notes of big black cherry, dark chocolate, and essences of raspberry. The palate is dominated by chocolate and coffee notes, the mid palate has hints of cola berry and currant which leads to the long lingering finish. The tannins are there but ever so elegant and silky smooth. The Malbec at 36% contributes the deep color and blue fruit notes of this wine but also the delicious spice elements as well. As always this wine is complex, fruit driven, and super silky. Food Pairings: Roast lamb with garlic and rosemary or grilled prime beef with fresh herbed chimichurri sauce.
