Rex Hill Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2013
Wine SpectatorLithe and expressive, light-footed and ripe, with blackberry, plum and mint flavors on a sleek frame, lingering gently against fine tannins. Drink now through 2020. 8,060 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastFruity and forward, this is a pretty, approachable wine with bright berry and cherry fruit. There's a strong note of citrus, particularly orange flesh and rind, and it's the sort of no-nonsense, gluggable wine that one rarely finds associated with Pinot Noir. This will be best enjoyed by 2018.
Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Pinot Noir, matured for 12 months in 28% new oak, has a plump blueberry and raspberry scented bouquet, the 10-15% whole cluster not at all noticeable and discretely enmeshed. The palate has a touch of sour cherry on the entry, meatier in style than many 2013 Pinot Noirs that I have encountered with a slightly abrupt finish, hence my parsimonious score. Hopefully it will just gain a little length in bottle.
