Michael David Inkblot Petite Verdot 2013
Wine EnthusiastThis is a high-powered, full-bodied wine. The aromas are like toasted baguette slices, vanilla and nutmeg, the flavors do a good impression of dark chocolate and blackberry, and the texture is saturated with fine tannins that give all those flavors plenty of support and lip-smacking appeal.
Wine AdvocateA new cuvée, which I have never tasted from them, is their 2011 Petit Verdot Inkblot (100% Petit Verdot). I tasted two vintages, the 2011 and 2013. They produce about 1,000-1,400+ cases of this wine, and while I'm not a great believer in Petit Verdot standing on its own (this one is aged in 100% new oak), these two vintages could make a believer of even skeptics like myself. The 2013 Petit Verdot Inkblot has similar quality, with slightly more alcohol, but is a big, rich, concentrated wine with nearly identical character to the 2011.
